Authentic and original armchair chair by Pierre Jeanneret from the administrative buildings in Chandigarh.

The armchair is made from solid teak with seat and backrest in braided canework. The legs feature the iconic "compass" type double side leg assembly connected by two crosspieces and supporting the armrests. The shape is lightly slanted with a curved backrest attached to the seat.

The chair is in superb condition and structurally sound, ready for use, with light traces of use and wear commensurate for its age. The caning has been redone but all the wood and parts are original. The chair comes from a private collection originally purchased in England from the Katharine House Gallery in 2012.
