Set of 2 sling chairs in swietenia mahogany and leather. The appearance of this set of sling chairs can best be described as minimalistic and typically mid-century Brazilian given the use of materials and design. Raw and very true to nature. The chairs are made of swietenia mahogany. This is a South American type of wood that is red-brown in color with a silky sheen. Its drawing is subtle and experts refer to this as 'watered' because of the similarity with slightly wavy surface water.A nice curve over the armrests is striking for this frame and runs forward at a slight angle from the back legs. Beams are inserted through the front and back legs and are connected at the ends with a mortise and tenon joint. The pins on the top four joints are made of ebony and add beautiful detailing. The seat and backrest are decorated with the original stretched skai leather with a green finish. This leather is laced at the bottom of the seat and at the back of the backrest and can be loosened or tightened if desired. This set has been fully restored in our workshop and is in very good condition.
